Bio Pill Vials
Sustainable Pharmaceutical Packaging

About
Biodegradable pill vials designed to reduce pharmaceutical plastic waste while maintaining safety standards and usability. After use, the vials can be planted in soil where they biodegrade and seeds embedded within the material allow plants to grow directly from the packaging. This innovative approach transforms pharmaceutical waste into a positive environmental impact, creating a circular lifecycle where packaging becomes a source of new plant growth. Features fast hydrodegradable plastic (mycelium-based) that absorbs water, sustains and boosts plant growth. Includes integrated seed grid system with seeds embedded during 3D printing for single-piece manufacture. Multiple cap mechanisms explored including push-and-turn, side-push, align-and-snap, and top-push designs. Made from biodegradable materials including colored cardboard variants, biodegradable bio paint for water protection, and paper labels. Combines sustainable materials with functional design to address the growing concern of pharmaceutical plastic waste.
